An important component of community building is understanding the lived experiences of our neighbors. This session will explore how social media tools, including blogs, can be effective (or not) in the process of educating and exposing our community to the real lives of their neighbors. Panelists will discuss their organizing experiences using a range of tools. This will be a solid session for those moving beyond Social Media 101 and basic content development to actively developing community engagement strategies. The discussion will explore real life examples organizing across the local Latino, African-American and LGBTQ communities. Panelists include: Tara Sherry-Torres of Cafe Con Leche, Joy KMT of RootsPride, Nina Sauer from Most Wanted Fine Art and more to be announced.
