Blogging and social media tools work hand-in-hand to promote special events. This session will explore the partnership between a venue, event organizers and a local blogger to promote performance arts events on Pittsburgh’s Northside. Learn how this partnership grew organically out of a shared appreciation for drag and burlesque with appeal to a wide audience. Hear first hand from the performers about how their own use of social media was enhanced by working with a social media sponsor.
With some advance planning, social media can be leveraged into the event to benefit everyone. One example is incorporating social media “check-ins” and touts in the emcee patter for an event – much like saying “Don’t forget to tip the barstaff!”
