Memory Lane PCPGH3

This post was written right after my first Podcamp, PCPGH3 enjoy.

It’s now Tuesday morning and I have realized that this past weekend I was bombarded with so much information and interaction that it is going to take me a couple weeks to sort it all out. I must not be alone because I haven’t seen too many posts on the subject yet. This makes me feel a LITTLE less intimidated by our community. I’m really not, but what I mean is….I am not an English major, I didn’t even know what Twitter was on Friday night, I can’t write HTML or any other type of code, coming in to this weekend I averaged from 180 – 500 listeners per episode of my show which has been on the webs for 2 years. OK that’s my profile coming in. I am also an Extra Class Amateur Radio operator (don’t operate much these days)…..relevance: I’m just a regular blue collar yinzer type dude and when I used to go to meetings and functions related to Ham Radio there were alot of uhhhh let’s just say people I prolly wouldn’t belly up to the bar with. I was expecting the same at my first Podcamp. I was delightedly mistaken! I truly apologize for my self conjured socialmediaphobia.

I had a wonderful time and met some amazing people. I always knew Pixburgh was the shit, that’s why my show is so special to me. I recently began surfing around the locally generated blogs and found some outstanding local content. MindBlingDawn Papuga, PittGirl, Thoughtful Riot, Have a Good Sandwich and on and on (Please don’t be offended if I missed you refer to the opening statement. When I read these blogs you can see where a guy who started out as a tank mechanic could get a little literary anxiety. Back to PCPGH3..to all the folks MIke Brogan, Dave Fisher et al that decended on our grid square…Thank You so much n@!! To all of the folks who planned and executed flawlessly I thank you as well. I have some experience as a former volunteer firefighter, Chief and Trustee and organizing functions profesionally and most folks don’t realize how hard, time consuming and sometimes thankless it is to get a function the size of PCPGH3 to come together…I do and again Great Job and thanks. The main reason I attended was to try to learn how to have a better blog to supplement my show. Well I quickly realized I need to get on wordpress which I am in the proccess of doing now. I also wanted to get to the point that a large number of you all are concerning interaction (everyone is on everyone elses blogroll). I had no clue how to do this, but it’s coming along and I learned this as well this weekend. I still have a ton to learn…and I will, but I am certainly up a couple notches from Friday and I thank everyone for that. I have been a fan of SIDT for over a year so it was great to talk (and try to hang with them on the sahthside) but drinking awesome beer with over 10 percent akahol in it, trying to keep up with Sick Puppy and Father Spoon made me lose my glasses…catch that story on the next episode which should be recorded tonight. I was also introduced to the Wrestling Mayhem show and some of the cast. I listened to the latest episode Sunday night and although it was not with the main cast, the Women of Mayhem duck taped the fellas to their chairs and took over the studio…when the crew started getting to loud they were banished to the kitchen…funny ass show and I can’t wait for the new episode tonight. Their website segue’d me over to the Gspod where I listened to a hilarious interview between DJ G (G-Spod) and DJ Lunchbox (Wrestling Mayhem Show). Gay meets Wrestling…..that’s a keeper.

Sunday was a bit lite for me because Steeler football is part of my show prep. It kinda pissed me off that it ended up being a JV game, but getting beat by a winless team could have happened and the Steeler Nation in exile (my audience) would have expected some commentary. In closing…if you are catching this for the first time a little background on the show: I am a conservative (politically) cat and sometimes (not much) it comes out during the show. I know in da burgh and on comedy oriented podcasts I am heavily outnumbered…please don’t get turned off before you listen to a few episodes, the show is not about politics. If I offend anyone…suck it up I still love you! I am a Chief Warrant Officer in the US Army Reserve and I just got back from Iraq in July, show’s 19 – 40 document that experience in a unique way. In closing the closing I will get my shit up to par with the blogrolls and credit to more folks and shows n@ in following posts…Thanks for a great time and renewed invigoration for this shit…..Later
